Action-A-Day 6/29: Make a 30 second phone call to save lives

ACTION: Call the Senate Finance Committee  202-224-4515 to request a public hearing on the AHCA. Can't get through? Keep trying, but in the meantime, you can fax the committee at 202-228-0554 using your own fax or a free fax service like Fax Zero.

SAMPLE SCRIPT: Hello. My name is [name] and my zip code is [zip code]. I am calling to request a public hearing on the HR 1628

BACKGROUND:  As stated by Money magazine: At a recent budget hearing, Hatch needed help from a staffer to answer a question from Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill on whether there would be a hearing on the health care bill before the vote. He replied that there might not be one but, “we’ve invited you to participate and give your ideas".

Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell has refused to allow any more than 10 hours of debate in regards to HR 1628, AHCA.  GOP Senators were aiming to vote on the bill before the July 4th recess. They have delayed the vote, but are still charging forward with trying to rally more support to pass it into law.

If passed into law the AHCA would cause an estimated 22 million Americans to lose their health coverage. Access to healthcare affects Americans across every demographic. It is is estimated that over 1,000,000 of those losing coverage would be veterans who do not have access to VA health care or who are VA eligible, but do not have a VA facility that is in a reasonable proximity to their home.
