In Algonquin tradition, prayer ribbons are created as a representation of our honor and respect for humankind, the natural world, and the Spirit that guides us to convey a message of harmony with nature and each other. The Prayer Ribbon Workshop at White Rose Farm welcomes a community gathering to learn the tradition of prayer ribbons and how they speak to finding unity in diversity within America. The event runs from 1:30pm – 5:30pm, and afterwards people are invited to stay for food, dancing, singing, and drumming around a fire circle. Feel free to bring your own drums and instruments. More information and registration information can be found online.
If you’re interested in celebrating Irish culture and heritage, visit the Downtown Irish Festival this afternoon from 10:00am – 2:00pm, immediately following the Celtic Canter 5K and 1-Mile Leprechaun Chase. There will be live entertainment, crafts, demonstrations, and a variety of activities!
