Action-A-Day 2/14: Stand Up for Love

Recognizing St. Valentines Day as a Christian as well as a secular/cultural day devoted to love, we encourage you to rise up in the spirit of mercy and compassion and show that love for all those in harm's way.

The 45th President has signed a cascade of executive orders that threaten the safety and lives of hundreds of thousands of people in the United States as well as around the globe. Refugees, immigrants, Muslims, the indigenous, minorities, people of color, women and all people in need of healthcare. He closed our borders to refugees and also immigrants from seven primarily Muslim countries — a de facto Muslim ban. He has directed our government to construct a wall on our southern border; to punish sanctuary cities; to facilitate the repeal of the Affordable Care Act; and to construct pipelines across the sacred lands of indigenous people, which may very well bring harm to life sustaining water supplies. He has escalated a rape culture and threatened the rights of women on every front. And he has signaled there is more to come, including curtailing LGBTQI rights and rolling back voting rights. In order to change a culture of normalization that makes these policies possible, we as people of moral conscience rise up in an army of ethical resistance rooted in love, care, compassion and kindness.
