On Sept. 5, Trump announced that he was terminating the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. This Obama-era program provides relief from deportation for an estimated 800,000 young immigrants. Because Trump terminated DACA, over 10,000 Dreamers are estimated to have already lost their protections, and nearly 1,000 more will lose DACA each week and become vulnerable to Trump’s deportation force.
There is bipartisan support for the Dream Act in both the Senate and House. And the bill enjoys massive support from the American public. Now that Donald Trump has yanked protection away from immigrant youth, it is now up to Congress to take action. Every day that goes by is a day in which the lives of immigrant youth remain at risk.
Ask your members of Congress to become Dream Heroes now!
Who are Dream Heroes? They are members of Congress who pledge to fight alongside Dreamers. On December 8, Congress voted to kick the can down the road two weeks by passing a short-term funding bill. If they haven’t passed the Dream Act by December 22, when this short-term funding bill expires, then a Dream Hero will insist on including the Dream Act as part of the final December spending bill. The pledge is that they will only commit to vote on a “continuing resolution” that has the Dream Act attached. Call your MoC and tell them: A vote on a continuing resolution without the Dream Act, is a vote to deport Dreamers - no Dream, no CR.
Tell Congress to vote NO on any omnibus spending bill that doesn't include a clean #DreamAct. You can use the Dreamer Pledge call script.
Cardin, Van Hollen and Raskin are solid supporters of the #DreamAct, but have not committed to the Dreamer's Pledge to insist on the Dream Act as part of the final spending bill. Harris supported Trump's decision to end DACA -- call him and share your views on protecting undocumented youth.
