Rally for the Forest Conservation Act

  • House of Delegates Building 6 Bladen St, Room 142 Annapolis, MD USA (map)

Legislation has been introduced to help slow the destruction of Maryland's forests by updating the state's 27-year-old Forest Conservation Act (FCA). The forest loss is damaging to Maryland's Important Bird Areas (IBAs), and is costing billions of dollars in lost ecosystem services. A "Rally Your Reps" Day will be hosted by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation on Tuesday, February 20, from 8:15 am - 12:00 pm - this is the same day as the Senate hearing for SB610 (HB766 will be heard on Wednesday, February 21). Following the rally, advocates will meet with legislators and staff. Click here to register, and click here to invite your friends on Facebook.

If you can't make it to Annapolis on February 20, click here to contact your legislators and tell them to protect our forests for birds and the bay!
